Measuring

It is very important that before you place your order, you give to us accurate BUST, WAIST, and HIP measurements.  Dresses come from various companies and because of this the sizing will vary. There is a different size chart for each company we carry. We will need you to send your measurements with your order and if we see a problem we will contact you concerning it.

Take your measurements over top of your underclothing .  Do not hold the measuring tape too tight and do not hold your breath while measuring.  Keep in mind that your formal wear size is generally 1 to 2 sizes bigger than your street clothing size.  For example, if you tell us you wear a size 8 in normal clothing, that will mean nothing in formal wear sizing.  In a wedding dress you could be a 10 in one company or a 12 in another.

Bust:     You take your bust measurement around the fullest part of your bust making sure the tape is straight and flat.

Waist:   Take the waist measurement around the smallest part of your natural waist, a couple of inches above your navel.

Hip:      The hip measurement is around the fullest part of your seat and thighs.

Dresses are designed to be altered up or down a size. Please be aware that sizing is not an exact science and alterations by an experienced seamstress will almost always be necessary for a proper fit.  This service is not included in your purchase.

Length:     This service is offered on select dresses only and generally has an additional fee involved from the factory.  A hollow to hem measurement can be taken to accommodate a special length and should be considered if the dress cannot be shortened by a seamstress.  Begin by wearing the bra and slip you will be wearing with your wedding dress as well as the correct shoe height.

Place the top of the tape measurer at the bottom of the hollow in your neck.  Gently guide it over the bust down the center of the body guiding it over the fullness of the slip down to where you would want the finished hem.  Please contact us while doing this measurement and we can talk you through it.  If the measurement falls between two numbers, go to the larger number.  Keep in mind that even with these measurements, the length can vary up to ½" from the factory.
